About Nesli

My name is Neslihan Ivit, everybody calls me “Neslie”. I am a professional winemaker with a scientific background and a wine and food communicator. My expertise in the wine industry starts from the vineyard and extends to the glass.

I was born and raised in Izmir, and studied in Europe. I hold a BSc diploma in Food Engineering with an associate degree in Business Management, and an international MSc diploma in Viticulture and Oenology from France and Spain. During my studies, I specialized in sparkling winemaking and yeasts, with my published thesis research and scientific reviews.

After graduation, my passion for wine and eagerness to work in different wine-growing countries took me to Turkey, France, Spain, Chile and the USA, before settling down in Canada in 2016. To combine my international winemaking experience with a deeper focus on wine regions, I obtained my level three award from the Wines & Spirits Education Trust in early 2020.

Travelling and living in different countries taught me many things; the most important ones are to be flexible and to speak four more languages fluently.

Along with making wine and conducting technical projects about viticulture and oenology, my passion for wine led me to blogging and photography. I enjoy writing about her experiences in the vineyards and wineries, and telling stories of wine professionals from all around the world.

I believe that the experiences and knowledge become meaningful only when I write about them, and even more meaningful when you read them. Thank you very much for being here, and reading my blog.

Please feel free to contact me for anything you have in mind about wine, I would be glad to contact.

Cheers,

Nesli
